A quick note about a recent crime event that highlights the importance -- and timeliness -- of this year's National Night Out, TRCA's supporting event, and the continuing efforts of a few good neighbors to bring Neighborhood Watch to the area.

This past Saturday around midnight, after some of us lost power, an assault occurred at the intersection of Carlisle Drive and Park Road. It appears that neither the victim nor the attacker live in the neighborhood, and that the assailant attacked the victim because of an argument that escalated as the two rode through the area.

TRCA Executive and Public Safety Committee member Kevin Posey found the victim beaten but conscious. (He also relayed this information.) No word on whether the police have made an arrest.

That makes all too real the need for awareness and vigilance, which an event like National Night Out can help spur. So again, please join us for cake, neighborly fellowship, and some public safety information at Angel Park from 6:30-8:00 pm on Tuesday night.

Hope to see you there!
