We have LORAN also in the US on 100 KHz but I have never seen this
phenomenom.  I suspect either some pecularity of the transmissions there
or some thing else is the cause.

An interesting thing to do with LORAN audio is to strobe (trigger) a
scope at the same rate as the individual LORAN chains (rcver. AGC off)
with the audo going to the vertical.  By doing this, one "freezed" the
particular chain on the display and can see the individual master and
slave.
