Gary, NQ0V and I have had a discussion recently about the health of W0CXX-5. There are a number
of possibilities. The antenna and coax have been up for MANY years. My guess would be in the
range of 20 or more. They were installed early in the life of the 112 shack and were used for
years on 145.05 for the packet BBS. Another possibility is the radio/TNC and a third is some
interference from within the plant.
I am looking at the fundu raw data for NQ0V-2, K0QVF-9 and KC0SKM-1. Here is what I see:
Digipeater K0QVF K0QVF-2 W0CXX-5 NQ0V-9
NQ0V-2 12 34 20 1
K0QVF-9 26 20 8 0
KC0SKM-1 0 0 11 0
K0QVF is my home station in Fairfax, K0QVF-2 is the fill-in digi on the SW side of CR, W0CXX-5
is in the 112 station at Collins and NQ0V-9 is on the north side of Marion.
The numbers above are those that made it into findu, there were probably more picked up by each
digi but were duplicates in findu so not shown.
Gregg, how much power are you running? K0QVF is 25 watts to a 1/4 wave on the trunk lip.
Not sure of the NQ0V route, the K0QVF route was from Fairfax on 151 to Edgewood road to
Blairsferry road to Council St and then back to Fairfax by the same route. K0QVF-9 is using
MIC-E and SmartBeaconing so when it is mauvering it will send an update quite often.
Conclusions: don't know. I think it would be a good idea to just ate a look that the
antenna/feedline at W0CXX-5 with a wattmeter.
