Great Traffic Calming News for E Taylor Run (ETR)
Residents!

Yes it’s been a long time since we’ve had activity
with our neighborhood’s traffic calming efforts!

As you may recall, last fall, the Traffic Calming
Committee petitioned neighbors along East Taylor Run
to approve a Traffic Calming Plan. The plan calls for
a series of 3 speed humps along ETR and a
sidewalk/crosswalk at the intersection of ETR and
South View. After several efforts to collect enough
signatures, the petition failed to get the approval of
all the ‘directly affected’ residents (the neighbors
that get speed humps along their property line).
Additionally many residents did not sign because of a
city Fire and Emergency requirement that eliminates
parking around the speed humps.

Here’s the good news: The Fire and Emergency folks
dropped the requirement to eliminate parking!!

Using this new information, the next step is for the
Traffic Calming Committee to contact the two remaining
‘directly affected’ neighbors and try to collect a
“yes” vote on the original plan. If the committee is
successful, then the original plan can proceed.

However if the committee cannot get the “yes”
signatures, then new speed hump locations will need to
be selected and a new petition process will need to be
completed.

I’ll keep you posted.

Traffic Calming Chairman
