Finally did the ultimate loop test. Using the new preamp / compared the
computer cable loop against the 160 meter L and observing the AMRAD
beacon Found there to be an observable difference in favor of the loop on
the /12 beacon [ 5WPM ]the /6 beacon was the same. No better or no worst
t t t . The difference must be in the type of polarization as one is more
vertical than the other. The loop probably likes vertical .

My conclusion is if you are space limited you can still enjoy poking
around at LF with a small antenna ,,,a loop 8 Ft in diameter can work as
good as a long wire. That may and probably will change depending on time
and propagation and your location but I am impressed that the small loop
works as well as it does... or the 130 Ft wire doesn't. Take your pick.
With the additional 350 cps filter on the IC 756 I am able to hear the
beacon as well.

Too bad the weather is about to get nice. HAR

I will be replacing the small loop with a larger and higher Q one . I am
remote tuning the small loop with about 3000 Pf of varactor diodes and it
is located in the back 15 and is about 4 Ft off the ground.......
