Vittorio,
You are right about getting the ADC out of the computer box. A friend built
a high end DSP board for the PC and put the ADC outboard with an interface
he designed to the digital processing inside the PC. He was able to get a
full 16 bit signal to noise but only with some effort. Getting 24 bits may
be almost too hard based on his work. You can check out his web site at
