Hello Jerry

Nice to hear of your interest in LF transmissions.
I am sending a cc: of this message to <lf at amrad.org> which is our LF
reflector address. You are most welcome to join that reflector, if you
want, and it is free of charge and cholesterol free too, I am told).
To join, click on:

http://www.amrad.org/mailman/listinfo/lf

and fill in the blanks.

As regards your installation, your WJ HF1000 should do well. We
haven't had propagation reports from west of Virginia yet, but at
least one Canadian amateur in London Ontario receives us S9 +++ !

Antennas are something else. We have had more success with loops and
with e-field probes than with long wires, although British amateurs
are reporting success with long wires terminated into a tuner. See the
AMRAD web page <http://www.amrad.org> and look at the LF stuff

To start with, can you receive many other aero-beacons between 200 and
350 KHZ ?
Can you hear many LowFers? can you hear Loran on 100 KHZ ? I think
these are the first questions to be taken care of. As you develop
better and better receiving conditions, your set-up will be really
fine-tuned.

Well, that is probably enough for today ! Keep in touch, and good luck
in your experiments
