[Lf] Radio Shack "Magic Speaker"

In order not to accidentally pull the speaker by its terminals, I
decided to fasten the speaker cable to the back of the speaker with a
cable clamp, held in place with a screw inserted into one of the 4
tapped-holes at the back. Interestingly enough (IMHO), although they
first appear to be 6-32, these holes are in fact tapped for metric
screws.  
Would this be a sneaky crypto-communist attempt to get the US to
finally go metric?
There is no mention of metric screws in the leaflet accompanying the
speaker.
