Hello Peter,

a) this will confirm that several of us intend to accomplish this week
our yearly pilgrimage to Hags Head. We should arrive there in the late
afternoon of Friday 14 January, and will probably stay there (weather
permitting) until Monday morning. (Then a 5 hour drive bac to
Washington)

b) we will be trying to receive everything we possibly can. Please
confirm the frequency you propose to use.

c) we have now studied several weeks of recordings of AGC voltage
(looking at France-Inter on 162 KHz) but, generally speaking they all
look more or less like the one posted on <amrad.org> We have
noticed that usually it builds up from 0200 Zulu until 0630Z, after
which it decreases and is totally dead by 1030Z. There is often
another positive going "bump" around 0830Z, but we do not know that it
actually is France-Inter (we have never listened at that time). It
could be a freakish second hop from the Russian transmitter on the
same frequency. Hence let us focus on 0200Z to 0700Z

d) the wind is gusting here for the moment and we have had to turn off
the WA2XTF/12 transmitter (the one heard in Ontario). It could be
that the antenna setup at /12 is most favorable for sky-wave, and that
if anything is ever heard overseas, it will be with a high angle of
attack. Hence, when the weather turns good again (later this week, we
hope), we propose to transmit QRSS (4 seconds dot length at your
suggestion) and we will also shift the frequency a couple of herz
every 90 seconds or so, to make it easier to distinguish our trace
from the rest of the garbage, per Alan Melia's suggestion.
