Chuck,
It looks like we have about 3 setups that will be used at Nags Head from
the Northern Virginia crowd.
1. An Efield probe on a 24' pole at the beach cottage with warmth and a
Cubic R3030 and an RX320 and a notebook computer all on AC power. Also a
4:1 multicoupler so we can hook up several receivers including HP and WG
selective voltmeters.
2. An RX320 and notebook in my van on pure DC power. A 24' pole and
efield probe for an antenna. I have also tamed a 60 Hz inverter so I can
run 120 vac gear as long as the battery holds up. (approx 90 AH)
3. An Icom r71A and Cubic R3030 with 10' loop in a SUV running on an
inverter and marine battery.
I have a 10' by 10' pop up tent with no sides I can bring along. We will
have a propane heater we can put inside and put some plastic tarps around
the sides. I also have a 2.5 kW gasoline generator with a heavy duty RF
filter on the line I could bring. What have you got in mind to bring besides
the RF Comm receiver? I would like to see the Rockwell HF2050 and WJ
HF1000 in action.
We can set you up in the cottage and you can run side by side with some
of the other rigs for comparison. I think the cottage will be pretty
good but.... one bad insulator or one light dimmer and we will be toast.
You and your friends will be more than welcome to watch and discuss the
goings on. We all learned a lot last year and I think we will be doing
things better and bringing things to improve over last year.
