The Hawkeye Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America participated quite vigorously in the 1995 Jamboree on the Air. For several months preceeding JOTA, local scouting leaders and amateur radio operators planned an extensive programs for the event. In 1994, several troops participated in a smaller event that took place at Linn County's Pinnicon Ridge Park. This year, the event took place at Camp Waubeek, with much wider participation from both the council and the local amateurs.
The local scout leadership obtained permission from the national scouting headquarters to use BSA's club callsign K2BSA. K2BSA/0 was signed from the operations at Camp Waubeek this year. Extensive planning resulted in an outstanding demonstration of the radio art. Radio direction finding, antennna construction, project construction, electronics demonstrations.
